The farm equipment division of Cotton Greaves has launched a locally manufactured power tiller. Known to supply engines to most manufacturers of small commercial vehicles in India, the company is not just manufacturing the power tiller locally, it also designed and developed it in India. Investing in the R&D and manufacturing facilities in India, Greaves Cotton has armed the power tiller, Bahubali, with a 14 hp engine. Flaunting a rugged body, the power tiller is claimed to offer better ploughing performance. Expected to reduce the dependency of a farmer on human labour, the power tiller is a result of the company’s talking to farmers and understanding their needs. Expressed Nagesh Basavanhalli, MD & CEO, Greaves Cotton Limited, “The power tiller will strengthen our position in the agri sector. It will also address the need for efficiency machinery to achieve higher land productivity. Starting out as a provider of small equipment for farmers, the farm equipment division of Greaves Cotton is said to have grown into a player with a wide range of equipment with varying functionality; from ploughing to harvesting.
