The National Highway Authority of India’s bond issuance is likely to be out in March or April 2018. This was revealed by union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari according to industry sources. Sources claimed that the government was looking at NHAI to use its surplus funds before embarking on the bond issue. The funds allocated for infrastructure development in Budget 2018 would be used for land acquisition. The monetisation of 105 NHAI projects should yield Rs.1.25 lakh crore, claim sources. Sources mention that the 2018 union budget prioritises agri and infrastructure investment to achieve double digit growth in due course. The Cabinet has already cleared projects of Rs.7.5 lakh crore under Bharatmala. By the end of March 2018, an investment of Rupees-eight lakh crore would have been completed. The annual budget for road projects has been increased from Rs.40,000 crore to Rs.1,30,000 per annum.
