The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is claimed to have come down heavily on the Delhi Government for failing to implement its order to ban 15 year old vehicles, from plying on the roads in the capital. The apex body expressed its concern over government’s eagerness to implement the odd-even rule rather than strictly execute its order to ban 15 year old vehicles from plying. The NGT also expressed its unhappiness over the government allowing recurring instances of waste burning apart from failing to curb other causes of dust pollution. NGT directed the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to gather data on air quality in Delhi during the phase two of the odd-even scheme and submit a report.
