Following in the steps of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) has also started home-delivery of diesel. Announcing the start of the service at Pune, the company has termed it as ‘HP Fuel Connect’. Involving the diesel deliver to select customers having fixed equipment, and heavy machinery in their premises in the region surrounding Uran, and in other parts of Raigad, the state-owned petroleum major has employed a mid-size truck to mount a diesel storage tank and a dispenser. Besides heavy machinery and fixed equipment users such as big contractors and infra companies, HPCL is also targeting shopping malls and commercial establishments, which use diesel gensets. Also targeting fleet operators with considerable consumption, HPCL, for home delivery of fuel, has got a clearance from PESO, which is mandatory given the highly inflammable nature of fuels and the requirement of adequate safety precautions. PESO has given approval for doorstep delivery of diesel on a trial basis.
