Car carrier truck sales have picked up steam claim industry sources, post the issuance of final gazette notification by MoRTH recently. Sources add that the notification mentions the length of articulated car carriers at 18.75 m rather than the earlier 16 m. Close to 95 per cent of the articulated car carriers currently in use, claim sources, measure 22.5 m in length as they deliver cars from factories to retail outlets across India. The notification, according to sources, will lead to the sale of car carriers going up another 20- 25 units in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal. Also contributing to the rise in sales will be two key factors add sources. These include BSIV pre-buying and the likely implementation of GST from the next fiscal. Yet another factor is the NGT order that bans the operation of transport vehicles above 10 years of age in Delhi NCR. The highest number of car carriers, most measuring 22.5 m in length, are said to be registered in Haryana.
